Packhouse Team Leader

Join the Mr Apple Whanau as one of our packhouse team leaders, mentoring our teams to deliver the best apples to the world. 

Do you have some leadership experience or are you wanting to take the next step in your Post Harvest career?  We are getting ready for our 2024 season and have a few key leadership roles available. These include technical, line and staffing opportunities, depending on whether you have great systems and computer skills, or prefer to work with people. You will start on a seasonal contract, with the potential to move to permanent employment. 

What you’ll be doing 

Technical Team Leader (Blemish)– with a strong attention to detail, you will run and the technology that monitors the fruit’s grade and size. 

Line Team Leader – Working within the packing lines, you will train the staff and support them to ensure high productivity across the shed. 

Staffing Team Leader – With administrative and pastoral care responsibilities, you take on the in-team HR support role making sure the people are there and paid for the work each week. 

Your day-to-day tasks will also include: 

• Partner closely with other team leads to ensure smooth running of the shed 
• Act as a mentor and guide for other packhouse team members 
• Following Packhouse startup procedures  
• Key requirements of the role – (the must haves, consider attracting diverse backgrounds) 

What you’ll bring:  

• You are a people person – you are able to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people to help them understand new systems 
• A team player – you understand that we are stronger together when we collaborate and partner 
• Adaptability – you are a calming force and cope well under pressure  
• Ideally, you have experience working in a packhouse – however, this is not essential.  
• Must have the right to work in New Zealand and be able to pass pre-employment screening and checks
