Senior Leading Hands - Hawke's Bay

Are you passionate about orchard management and looking for an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire a team? We are seeking dedicated and motivated Senior Leading Hands to join us.

‍What you’ll be doing:

‍

In this role, you will assist the Orchard Manager in every aspect of running and maintaining the orchard to produce an export crop of apples. You’ll ensure that practises comply with relevant legislation and agreed company procedures while maintaining high level of health and safety standards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning of the orchard and the effective management of orchard employees.

Your day-to-day tasks will include but are not limited to:

‍

• Motivate and manage team members to ensure the orchard is optimally profitable

• Supervising and training of seasonal staff

• Utilising technology to access, record and identify information

• Implement effective company policies on all orchard husbandry techniques

• Completing general orchard work such as property maintenance, redevelopment, tractor driving, spraying and pruning.

What you’ll bring:

‍

• Solid experience within horticulture having supervised orchard workers (minimum 3  years’ experience required)

• Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills

• Knowledge of machinery operation and maintenance

• Tree husbandry, Pest, disease and chemical knowledge

• Comfortable with new technology and learning basic business and financial skills

• A future thinker – you are passionate about learning and owning change

• You must have reliable means of transport to and from work

• You have the right to work in New Zealand and can pass pre-employment checks
